Is one of the greatest sports movies of all time built on a lie? We're pouring some excellent bourbon to uncover the true story behind the 1993 Notre Dame football classic, Rudy.
While this beloved underdog story has inspired millions, John and Rick dig deep into the historical inaccuracies, Hollywood exaggerations, and the shocking financial scandals surrounding the real Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger. We also debate whether a flawed reality ruins a great cinematic message when it comes to fact vs. fiction in classic sports movies.

In this episode, we break down:

• The Jersey Revolt Myth: The iconic desk scene never happened—a fact confirmed by Joe Montana and the real-life coaching staff.

• Coach Devine Was the Good Guy: The real head coach actually wanted Rudy to play and was shocked by his harsh portrayal on screen.

• The SEC Stock Scandal: Years later, the real Rudy was investigated for a pump-and-dump penny stock scam that cost investors over $11 million.

• Overcoming Real Odds: Despite the movie myths, Rudy still genuinely overcame massive hurdles regarding his grades and size to make the practice squad.

• Hollywood's Bad Habit: How other blockbusters like Braveheart, Titanic, and Bohemian Rhapsody altered history for drama.

• Whiskey Feature: Today’s video podcast is fueled by 1792 Small Batch Bourbon and Fordham Lee Distillery whiskey.
