 Dr. Salwa Bakkali-Derksen (Dr. D to her patients) is an internal medicine physician with extensive experience in treating diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and heart disease. She has a strong interest in rheumatology, naturopathic medicine, and women’s health. With over a decade of experience as both a hospitalist and outpatient clinician at Mayo Clinic for the last 7 years, Dr. Bakkali-Derksen is renowned for providing outstanding patient care and serving as a teacher, and mentor. Her academic achievements include degrees in computer and biological sciences, culminating in a Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine. Her clinical interests extend to osteopathic manipulation and hormone replacement therapy. Having worked in various hospital systems across multiple states, she is also fluent in three languages, enabling her to connect with a diverse patient population.
