    2021 Census of Agriculture saw record growth in bean production in Canada, making Canada the third largest pulse producer in the world. Both chickpea and lentil production rose 31% and 38% respectively year over year and Lentil farmers alone received more for their crop in 2024 than all fresh fruit farmers combined ($1.6 billion versus $1.3 billion).
