The Lord graciously granted Israel favor in order to spoil theEgyptians as they left. Since God chooses to associate himself with a certain people, apart from any merit or human justification, we ought to respond in faith and gratitude, knowing that he is good.

The Lord justly reinforced Pharaoh’s hard heart whilesimultaneously showing him mercy. Since the Lord continues to show mercy to each of us, even while he has the power to harden us in our rebellion, we should respond by repenting from sin and trusting in his grace.

Yahweh sent plagues to Egypt to reveal himself to Pharaoh, hispeople, and the Israelites. Since God can be known only by revelation, we must receive the truth about him rather than rely on our own understanding and accept God’s rule as the omnipotent Creator.

Jesus taught his disciples to show radical humility and selfless love to one another. Since Jesus humbled himself and died for sinners, we must follow his example of service and obey his command to love sacrificially.

The words of the wise result in a life that is upright, well-ordered, and well-invested. Since the world suffers corruption and the ongoing pressure of decay, we must listen to the words of the wise to live a life of wholeness and godly pleasure.

The wicked have no hope of a future, while the righteous are blessed now and in eternity. Since God will bring all men into judgment, we must pursue the wisdom that leads to righteousness and avoid sinful folly which brings only destruction.
