What happens when we shorten what the Bible actually says?
In this episode, we look at three familiar biblical statements that are often repeated in a shortened form: the "tree of knowledge," "money is the root of all evil," and "God won't give you more than you can handle."
The problem isn't always that the shortened version is completely wrong. Sometimes, it's that important words have been left out — words that make the original statement more specific and precise.
We'll look at what happens when "the knowledge of good and evil" becomes simply "knowledge," when "the love of money" becomes "money," and when a statement about temptation becomes a general statement about everything we face in life.
Because sometimes the difference between what the Bible says and what we think it says is just a few words.
Don't cut the verse short.
