Ah, princesses, who doesn't love them? Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Ariel, had the coolest dresses---they were the most glamorous role models. Then we all grew up and realized that Disney movies have some really misogynistic messages.
Growing up, most of us were taught a simple formula: handsome prince + long-haired beautiful woman = Happily Ever After. Disney was the narrator, the primary source of our info. The ongoing collective anxieties about gender expectations and roles have reared their ugly heads through Disney princesses and the audience's relationship with them.
