The movie is – 1942 A Love Story which is co-written,Directed & Produced by Mr. Vidu Vinod Chopra who conceptualized war andlove at the same time. A Film that revolves around two contrasting familybackgrounds where the son of a rich & famous politician falls in love withthe poor freedom fighter’s daughter & since the film has the backdrop ofIndia’s revolutionary freedom struggle, how their relationship was threateneddue to the outbreak of the Indian revolution movement. This background is essential to understand the3 versions of the song we talked about in this episode.

The lead roles were played by the ever-young hero of currenttimes Mr. Anil Kapoor & very beautiful – naturally, Manisha Koirala &supporting roles were plated by Jakie Shroff, Anupam Kher & Danny.

The male version sung by Kumar Sanu is romantic and thefemale version is sung by Lata Mangeshker which is a sad version and plays inthe background in the film. There was a third version of this song too with acomplexly different tune and lyrics but that in spite of being rehearsed wasnever recorded. There was a controversy too regarding the same, but it wasbrushed aside nicely by the actual singer Kavita Krishnamurthy.

In today’s episode we will talk about a singer who didn’thave any musical family history or formal training. A pure raw god gifted talent - Reshma. Though she was born in India inChuru Rajasthan’s small village named Loha, but her family, soon after the partition moved to Pakistan when she was mere 1 month old.

She was singing at the holy shrine of Lal Shahbaz Kalander when she was barely 12. The magic of her voice becameso divine that a person standing in the crowd offered her to sign for the radio. She sang 3-4 songs on her maiden visit to the station and became an instant hit.

She came to India and sang "Lambi Judayi" which was written by Anand Bakshi and the tune was composed by Laxmikant– Pyarelal & was recorded at Mr. Subhash Ghai’s house with barely 10-12 musicians. This song became a block buster hit and had a pivotal role in the movie.

Some voices are totally different & very devine and make their way straight to the bottom of your heart. Reshma had the same voice.#Reshma,
