So far in 2024 there has been four Indigenous deaths in custody, and at the time of making this podcast 562 Indigenous deaths in custody since the 1991 royal commission.
The Northern Territory has the highest imprisonment rate in Australia with the age of criminal responsibility, where a person can be arrested, summonsed, charged with and found guilty of a criminal offence, 12 years old.
In this episode we speak with Pintubi, Anmatjerre and Warlpiri people about the justice system and the alarming rates of imprisonment for Yapa people and what the government should be doing to reduce this number.
