À propos de ce contenu audio

Death and Her Shadows is a podcast that explores death in all its spiritual and physical forms in an effort to encourage conversations about grief, mortality, loss, and spiritual growth.

My name is Viridia-Mae and in having this space I hope to provide a platform where people can have a safe space to be vulnerable and explore what death means to them, how it shows up in their life, and learn how their shadows help them confront and accept their own mortality.

    • Loving Mulan Should Have Been My Sign I Was Nonbinary | Episode #2
      Nov 12 2024

"Bathing in the blood of who I used to be

Offering up all my imperfect offerings

      Become my own fantasy

Twist the old self into poetry

      [...]

But you only know the one I've been

I've shed a thousand skins since then

A curse upon the monster of more

That shit does not define me anymore"

      - Whispers in the Echo Chamber, Chelsea Wolfe

Liminal spaces can show up in a multitude of ways; one of those ways can be the spectrum of sexuality and gender. This week's episode of Death and Her Shadows focuses on finding my gender expression while navigating unsafe spaces, the monstrous feminine, Mulan, and how I've managed to educate cis people with the knowledge I have to offer so far in a pretty weird but effectively simple way.

Disclaimer: I've only started identifying as non-binary for a handful of years because I lacked the proper resources and community to educate me on what I felt was right for myself. Therefore, there may be ways that I speak about identity that may seem crass or carefree but please don't misunderstand that as the intent to cause harm. The more educated I become, the more I uncover about myself and my identity. If I've said something within the content of this episode that offends, please feel free to leave a comment or message anywhere you're able to access in order to call me in. As I mentioned in the episode, it's hard to find a kind community to properly educate and I'm all ears. Thank you ♥

    • The Old Me Is Dead....kind of? | Episode #1
      Oct 23 2024

Are you in your Redemption era, or are you just regurgitating the same violence the world has committed against yourself in an effort to be self-empowering? For this introductory episode of Death and Her Shadows, we discuss the phenomenon around people metaphorically killing the part of themselves they deem as “weak and fragile” in order to become the best versions of themselves.

Disclaimer: This episode contains mentions of suicide, depression, and anxiety. Please listen at your own discretion.
