With the federal election underway, party leaders are making their pitch to Canadians about how to best lead the country through the COVID-19 pandemic recovery. The proposals on how to do that have included everything from tax breaks for consumers, to tax hikes on the country's biggest financial institutions. Dealing with the deficit has – so far – not been top of mind on the campaign trail. Yahoo Finance Canada's Alicja Siekierska and the Public Policy Forum's Sean Speer discuss one of the pandemic recovery proposals made on the campaign trail, and where Canada stands when it comes to dealing with the deficit.
