Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Connecticut Weather Podcast. It's Sunday, February 22nd. Folks, I'm not going to sugarcoat this. A monster nor'easter is bearing down on us right now. This is the kind of storm people remember for decades. Snow's already flying, and what's coming next is genuinely dangerous. Here's what's happening. A bomb cyclone is forming off the coast. Pressure is cratering from 1005 millibars to around 965 in just 24 hours. That's the atmosphere throwing a tantrum. Let's start along the shoreline. Coastal towns from Fairfield to New London? You're looking at blizzard conditions tonight. Winds will howl to 32 miles an hour with gusts near 50. Snowfall rates hit 2 to 4 inches per hour at the peak. Total accumulation? 19 to 29 inches. On top of that, a coastal flood warning kicks in at midnight. Expect a foot and a half to two and a half feet of water inundation near the shore. Don't drive through floodwaters. Period. Head inland to Hartford and the central corridor. You're catching 9 to 17 inches total with gusts reaching 49 miles an hour Monday. Roads will be impassable. If you absolutely must travel, pack blankets, water, and food in your car. Now the eastern side of the state gets hammered hardest. 22 to 34 inches. Yes, potentially close to three feet. Wind chills plunge to 16 degrees. Power outages are almost certain, and crews can't restore service until the wind dies down. Charge your phones now. Stock up on water and medications. Check on your neighbors, especially anyone elderly or living alone. Air quality sits at moderate, so take breaks if you're shoveling with respiratory issues. The week ahead does get better. Tuesday brings sunshine but bitter cold, highs barely touching 30 degrees. Wednesday warms near 40 with a chance of light snow or rain. Thursday and Friday stay unsettled in the low 40s. Saturday finally delivers a gorgeous, mostly sunny day. Perfect for tackling those snow mountains. One quick thing. If this podcast helps you stay prepared, share it with a neighbor. Storms like this are when community matters most. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Stay safe tonight, folks. This one's serious.
