Episode out! Glide or die baby

If you could bottle up a perfect barra trip, this would be pretty bloody close.

The Cod Tales crew has just wrapped up an unforgettable week at Lake Monduran, and what a ride it was. Sleepless nights, early mornings, sore arms, endless laughs, and barra that did not disappoint!!

The houseboat quickly became headquarters for absolute chaos. Between the cook-ups, cold beers, nonstop banter, and fish stories getting bigger by the minute, there wasn't a dull moment all week.

But the real stars of the show were the barra.

Glide bait eats in the dark, and Barra that loved the fluff, heart-stopping follows, brutal strikes, and metre-plus fish that had the boys shaking long after they hit the net. Every session felt like the next cast could produce the fish of a lifetime.

Trips like this remind us why we do it. Great mates, incredible fishing, and memories that will be talked about for years to come.

Lake Monduran has once again proven why it's one of Australia's most iconic barra fisheries.

  • EP64: ANZAC's & Having a Crack
    May 7 2026

Another cracking episode of Cod Tales Podcast is live 🎙️🔥

This week we break down a trip chasing trout and bass, ticking off a few firsts in the new tin along the way 👌 Plenty of laughs, a few lessons learnt and some awesome sessions on the water.

From there we head down to Lake Mulwala for Round 1 of the Teams Fishing Australia event, chasing both cod and yellas. Unfortunately the trip wasn’t without drama, with a few motor issues trying to slow us down 😅 but that definitely didn’t stop us from having a crack.

We chat about some unreal bite windows, the grind of finding yellowbelly when they’re shut down, and what it takes to stay in the game when the fishing gets tough.

We also dive into some new baits we’ve been testing and talk about how far ahead the Japanese market is when it comes to lure design, innovation and techniques compared to what we see here in Australia 🇯🇵🎣

Another fun one packed with fishing stories, good banter and plenty happening on the water. Get around it legends

  • EP63: Easter Fiesta - 2026
    Apr 16 2026

New episode just dropped on Cod Tales 🎙️🐟

This one’s a cracker we get right into the nitty gritty of chasing cod and yellas in shallow water. It’s one of those topics that sounds simple… until you realise how much there actually is to it. Plenty of little tips and eye-openers in here 👀

We’ve also got young Levi jumping on for a yarn telling the story of his first ever cod, which just casually turned into his PB 😅 Not a bad way to kick things off!

We run through our Easter river drift too, the highs, the lows, and a few moments that had us scratching our heads. As always, a couple of laughs mixed in with some solid takeaways.

And we touch on something that matters, fish care. There’s been a few things going on that don’t sit right, so we have an honest chat about respecting the fish and doing the right thing out on the water.

Good stories, good banter, and a bit to think about in this one 🤙

🎧 Get around it and let us know what you reckon!

  • EP62: Just cast and wind it back in
    Apr 9 2026

This week on Cod Tales Podcast, we’ve got Lachy Mac jumping on to yarn about his first crack at the Cod Nationals down at Mulwala… and yeah… casual as you like… the boys got the WIN 🏆

Fishing alongside Billy Westerveld, these blokes didn’t just fluke it, they broke the lake down, figured the pattern, and got the job DONE. No guesswork, no panic… just smart fishing and backing themselves when it mattered.

    We talk about:

    - How they approached Mulwala

    - What they looked for (and what they ignored)

    - How they adjusted when things got tough

    - And how it all came together when it counted

    And before anyone asks…

Nah, it’s not one of those “just cast it out and wind it back in” jobs… 🤣 (or is it… 👀)

Absolute cracking episode with plenty of laughs, good info, and a proper look behind a winning campaign.

    🎧 Get around it now!

  • EP59: Lake Macq Attack
    Feb 15 2026

EPISODE 59 – Lake Mac Attack!

The Cod Tales Podcast hit the road and headed down to Lake Macquarie to catch up with our good mate Banksy… and somehow ended up living out a full blown bucket list weekend.

    First up chasing marlin offshore.

And guess what… Azz ticks off a DREAM fish with his very first Blue Marlin. Absolute scenes. Chaos. Screaming reels and Dane getting crook for the first time in some ordinary weather out on the big blue. But that fish will live rent free in his head forever.

Then we backed it up with a morning session on the lake where it was just one of those relaxing days that turn into great memories

    • Dane knocked over a new PB flatty 🏆

    • AND landed his first ever snapper

Somewhere in between we got creative with ChatGPT comparing fish to cars… which turned into one of the more unhinged but weirdly accurate chats we’ve ever had. You’ll never look at a marlin or a Corolla the same again.

We also dive into the upcoming Teams Fishing Australia State of Origin New South Wales vs Victoria — and who we think is taking bragging rights this year 🏆

And to top it all off… Azz cops a heartfelt surprise from galvo live on the pod that genuinely caught him off guard. Proper goosebumps stuff.

Big fish. Big laughs. Big moments.

Episode 59 is one of those ones.

  • EP58: Twas the Drift before Christmas
    Jan 22 2026

🚨 RIVER DRIFTS, BLOWN TRAILERS & FISHING 🚨

Just before Christmas we squeezed in one of those river drifts… you know the ones that make you look over your shoulder thinking “surely this isn’t allowed.”

    📊 44 fish in 6½ hours.

    Absolute mayhem.

The highlight? Without question the most bizarre eat we’ve ever seen — a mid-70s cod climbing halfway out of the river to eat a lure off the bank. Still not convinced it was real, but it’s burned into our brains forever.

    Of course… Codtales rules apply:

⚡ Electric motor decided it had had enough

    🛑 Trip ended early

🛞 Lost a wheel AND hub off the axle

🚤 Boat trailer log-slated its way 17km into Binda

    We also had:

🎣 A tough river session with Mick Hayden, still boating six fish for the morning when it was proper grindy

🎣 A trip with Daddy Marto, only one fish on a Lighthouse Diver, but it turned into an elite arvo — a few beers, soaking bait and talking absolute nonsense

🎣 A quick fish with Nick & Ivy — 10 cod for the morning, and Ivy landed a cracking cod all by herself (outfishing blokes twice her size as usual)

Now we’re staring down the barrel of State of Origin Teams Fishing Australia in just five weeks 😳

Dam fish… what are you going to do?

    Meanwhile at Codtales HQ:

    💡 New neon sign pumping

    📱 TikTok lives rolling

    🎤 Portable mic setup dialled

✈️ Locked in for Lake Monduran, QLD

🎣 Plan to catch up with the one and only Nate Archer

River chaos, big fish, busted gear, good mates and better yarns — this is what Codtales is built on.

    🎙️ Episodes coming.

    🍻 Beers cold.

    🎣 Lines tight.
