  • Cauliflower Philosophy 41 - Joey Berkenbosch Born to Wrestle
    Feb 19 2026

I’m still not fully convinced anyone in the fighting community can read.

But I’m not taking that gamble today.
Just in case one of you has miraculously avoided severe CTE and can still process written language…

No, I am not uploading grandma’s famous chili con carne recipe.

Instead, I’m describing something far more dangerous.

    Joey Berkenbosch.

Professional MMA fighter. Wrestler. Middleweight menace.
A man who has won fights by TKO, by submission, and by making other grown men question their career choices.

In this episode we talk about:

    – What it feels like to win in front of your own crowd
    – Why wrestlers are built different
    – The ego required to step into a cage… and the humility required to survive it
    – Strength, suffering, discipline
    – And what fighting teaches you about being a man in a world that’s getting softer by the day

Joey breaks down the mindset behind real combat not the Instagram version.
What it takes to grind. To coach. To carry responsibility. To step in when everyone else steps back.

    No fluff.
No motivational quotes over piano music.
Just violence, philosophy, and cauliflower ears.

    If you train… you’ll understand.
If you don’t… you probably should.

    Querido ouvinte,

    Grande Oss

    Fiquem abençoados.

    Amo vocês!

    Julio

Bless you, that's what I think is the correct best way to greet somebody and at the same time making the best use of my words as possible. Why only bless when you sneeze? When you show a sign of weakness do I invoke God? Nah , lets make it more common. Feels better, no?

    Interview

Fantastic, that's what it was. The day started of with Jeroen and I leaving Amsterdam in the morning to do an openmat in Sint Niklaas near Antwerp. The trip was fun you always get to warm up to deeper conversations with somebody if you take a car trip with them and i had the best of company for this.

When we arrived nothing had prepared us for such a Good class, we were treated to a seminar kind of class from Maarten and a sneak peak of his Porrada Passing System. This of course means that im immediately thinking of going home and Porrada on everybody's guard. And yooooo jumping jambalaya on a stick that stuff was great.

Afterwards i got my guard smashed by him during openmat but we shall not speak about that now.

Focus its about the podcast. It started smooth the goal of the Podcast was to speak on the following themes that he himself kind of dropped during casual conversation and I built my questions around it.

The themes of this podcast are ; Faith, Family and Friends.

The rest my dear friends I'll let you listen to by yourselves. but let me tell you, i went home with my mind and soul well fed as i was presented with a banquete of good conversation.

    Love you all

    Be Blessed

Today is a special day because I am speaking to a master I've met before at the beginning of my journey in a seminar I had while living in Belgium as a blue belt. Funny how the world spins and we end up sitting across from each other and having an actual conversation now for the podcast where we get to record who he is and what he does for future generations. There is going to be an opportunity to meet him soon in november of 2023 here in Amsterdam so if you're in the neighbourhood his seminars are awesome!

This episode is recorded in Portuguese, sorry for my english speaking fans, no worries we have plans to make the podcast bigger with your help and having them on youtube in the future with translations.

I wanted to thank Braus for giving the opportunity for me to create the podcast itself and they are just awesome with their products that supports lives in ways that we don't think possible yet, also for them openly supporting my onlyfans that is dedicated to body shaming in BJJ

Special thanks to Kaizen league for supporting this podcast as well , they are the main contribution to my onlyfans which also feeds my need for attention and keeps me mentally stable.

Aproveitam ! oss !

As always its a pleasure to thank Braus for their ongoing support on making me look good while I absolutely terrorize the middle aged, middle class working men and women of this generation with pseudo homo erotic breastfeeding shenanigans.

Remember when you look good people will let you do shit to them and i look the best in Braus Pro light Black Gi. Check it here.

Also Thank you to Kaizen for making this episode possible ! they are changing the game of Bjj competitions in the world. That's all i will say for now cause nothing will justify the tsunami of A class competition heading our way.

In today's episode, we journey back in time to explore the remarkable life and legacy of Mitsuyo Maeda, a true pioneer of Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

    Episode Highlights:

Born in 1878 in Funagata, Japan, Mitsuyo Maeda's journey from a small village to becoming a global martial arts icon is nothing short of inspirational. As a young man, he trained under Judo's founder, Jigoro Kano, and quickly established himself as one of the most talented and innovative martial artists of his time.

Maeda embarked on a journey that would take him across the world, showcasing the power and effectiveness of Judo. He became a traveling martial artist, captivating audiences in countries as far-reaching as Europe, North America, and even the Amazon rainforest.

But it was Maeda's fateful encounter with a young Brazilian named Carlos Gracie in 1917 that changed the course of martial arts history forever. Together, they laid the foundation for what would later become Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a martial art that emphasized leverage, technique, and strategy over sheer strength.

So last time i gave a little bit of a teaser to who jigoro kano is and today i plan to go a little deeper with this Podcast but i will only go into the history of how jigoro kanos life has been.

Its truly remarkable and inspiring, i mean if you a looking for a roll model He is a very good candidate to have and i admire him more and more the more i read about him and his work.

You see his focus has always been on one thing, make better the life of those around you and yes although the reason he started jujutsu and learning jujutsu was to be stronger and fight back against his bullies he still transformed that initial urge into something that to this day could change the world.

I will go on to the philosophy in the second part of the podcast. In the first part I will talk about his life so we have a fundamental understanding of where this man came from.

Hope you Enjoy and Stay Sexy.
