🚨 WHY DOES EVERY PROBLEM SEEM TO REQUIRE ANOTHER LAW?
When something goes wrong in Australia, governments often respond with promises of new legislation, tougher regulations or greater intervention.
But here's the question I want Australians to consider.
WHAT IF MORE LAWS AREN'T THE ANSWER?
Can legislation create good character?
Can Parliament replace good parenting?
Can government regulation build healthy families?
And can another law restore public trust in institutions that repeatedly fail to meet expectations?
In this clip from the Helen Haines episode of Honest & Open Conversations, I explore why laws are only one part of a functioning civilisation.
Moral standards, personal responsibility, stable institutions, trust and accountability also matter.
The question isn't whether we need laws. It's whether we've started expecting laws to solve problems they cannot solve alone.
