ROBO BOXY HAS THE CONTROLS!

I’m away this week, so I’ve handed Boxfull of Sunday Soul over to Robo Boxy. He’s been fully charged, lightly polished and given strict instructions not to press the big red button.

This weeks podcast is packed with soul, funk, disco, Northern Soul, reggae and ska — with Honoré, Erica Falls, Barry White, Lillo Thomas, Leroy Hutson, Tower of Power, William DeVaughn and plenty more keeping his circuits soulful.

Robo Boxy will also be deploying an Artist Decade Rewind with Bobby Thurston, a Motown Northern Soul Double Stacker, a Pirate Memory Decade Rewind and a Random Disco Bit. Apparently, robots are legally required to include at least one random disco bit.

The Reggae/Ska Showstopper comes from Mykal Rose, while brilliant listener choices and memories have been supplied by Wendy Foy, Barry Hadingham, Antony J Carter and Kevin Dixie.

Robo Boxy promises 100% soul, 0% tea breaks and only a 12% chance of trying to pair with your toaster.

Join him on Sunday 1 November from 8am on Starpoint Radio — on DAB, the app, RadioPlayer UK, TuneIn, online or your smart speaker.

I’ll be back soon. Until then, please be kind to the robot… and if he starts playing dial-up noises, switch him off and on again.

A very special Boxfull of Sunday Soul Podcast is coming your way, broadcast completely LIVE from 8am on Starpoint Radio.

This week, I’m honoured to share an exclusive conversation with the late Ray Caviano, who sadly passed away earlier this week. We hear Ray in his own words, reflecting on his influence and involvement with Change, the timeless magic of The Glow of Love, and the emergence of the extraordinary young Luther Vandross.

It’s a poignant chance to celebrate Ray’s remarkable contribution to the music we love — alongside Change classics, rare memories and the unmistakable voice that helped shape a soul era.

The journey also moves through disco, ’70s favourites (Helen Hutchison), a Pirate Memory Decade Rewind (Antony J Carter) — with music from Eddie Kendricks, The Artistics in the Motown/Northern Soul Double Stacker (Gordon Stone), Earth, Wind & Fire, Barry White, Roberta Flack, Stevie Wonder (Wendy Foy), The Chi-Lites and many more. (Barry Hadingham)

This one matters. Let’s remember Ray Caviano together —Listen, Enjoy, Share...
