À propos de ce contenu audio

Ogden Utah has a rich, lively history that goes back to the 1844 when the area was settled by Trapper and Mountain Man Miles Goodyear and originally incorporated as Brownsville in 1851 before being renamed after Peter Skene Ogden who had trapped in the area prior to it being settled.  Ogden's most famous history is it's ties to the joining of the transcontinental railroad and the subsequent use by the Union and Central Pacific as a major hub for passenger and mail trains traveling throughout the west.  While the railroad certainly was a major influence on the history of Ogden, there is much more to Ogden's history that is lesser known. I plan to bring some of these lesser known places, people, and events into the spotlight in an effort to not only learn more personally, but to educate others about the history that surrounds them. Rojo Ape Productions

    • Episode 2: Rocky Point - Part 1
      Mar 27 2021
In the Northern Utah, fewer places have as much lore and mystery attached to them as Rocky Point. Originally built by the Scott Crabtree and his family, it opened in 1964 as a fine dining restaurant and operated for 3 years before a fire ended operations in 1967. Rocky Point Restaurant's fine cuisine, opulent setting, and unique location, brought visitors from far and wide. It hosted local celebrities and even the birthday party of the Governor of Utah at the time, Calvin L. Rampton. Cydney Neil, the youngest daughter of Scott Crabtree joins the podcast and shares her memories of the construction, the restaurant, what started the fire, and the senseless vandalism that ultimately ended the dream of rebuilding.
