    Hello Believers.

    It's a special edition of the show speaking to journalist, writer, poet, musician, entomologist and northern powerhouse, Gary Hartley.


    Gary studied journalism at the University of Sheffield before embarking on creative endeavours as a performance poet under the name Gary from Leeds, performing across the UK with shows such as Yet-I and Gary-baldi. He ran the literary magazine The Alarmist for many years before uprooting to Greece and then taking a left turn to study a masters in entomology which he talks about in the chat. He now writes as a journalist covering the natural world for outlets such as The Observer and New Scientist.


    Gary talks about returning to journalism, chipping away at the coalface of the spoken word circuit, why we need to love our six legged neighbours, his international outlook, northernisms and we also get time to talk about the first X Files film Fight the Future.

    Hello Believers. Today Chris speaks to playwright, screenwriter and performer Ben Target.

    Ben's critically-acclaimed play LORENZO won The Scotsman’s Fringe First Award and received Off West End Award and Holden Street Theatres’ Award nominations. The show had sellout runs at Soho Theatre (London) and Summerhall (Edinburgh) and is transferring to 59E59 Theater (New York ) and Sydney Opera House Studio. For TV, Ben has written and performed for Jamali Maddix’s Clickbait (All 4), Joe Lycett’s Junk (BBC3), What-A-Cool Gadget Show (BBC 3), Comedy Marathon (BBC 3) and Performance Anxiety (Comedy Central). Ben co-wrote and co-directed the short Frank with Joe Parham (BAFTA Award winner)and co-directed The Bird starring Julia Davis (nine-time BAFTA Award nominee).

    David is the creator and writer of the Amazon Prime Original series 'The Rig'. After a series of short careers including working in the UK parliament, working for the police in the area of youth justice and working on environmental policy alongside the Scottish Government, David transitioned into writing for the screen when his spec script 'Wrath' was nominated for the Edinburgh TV Festival's New Writing Award and also made it onto the Brit List of the best unproduced screenplays in the UK.

    In the chat David talks about bringing the Amazon Prime show 'The Rig' to the screen, growing up on oil rigs, how he writes, the current cultural climate in Scotland and beyond, his love of science fiction and The X Files S2 Ep22 'F. Emasculata'.

    Today Chris speaks to dancer, choreographer and Artistic Director of Dance Base, Tony Mills.

    Prior to taking over at Dance Base, Tony was Artistic Director of Room 2 Manoeuvre (R2M). He has worked with Freshmess Dance Company, State of Emergency, Off Kilter, Iron Oxide, Curious Seed, David Hughes Dance Productions, All or Nothing Aerial Dance Theatre, Scottish Ballet, Derevo, and the international street dance show, Blaze. He has also worked as a movement director/choreographer in theatre for companies such as Terra incognita, Cutting-Edge Theatre and commercially for high profile stars such as Martin Garrix and Kelly Rowland.

    In the chat, Tony talks about moving to Orkney from Ghana at a young age, briefly pursuing a career in veterinary medicine, his love of dance, horror movies and The X Files S2 Ep20 'Humbug'.

    Ailie is based in Glasgow and currently works for the National Theatre of Scotland and has worked on shows such as Exodus by Uma Nada-Rajah, Thrown by Nat McCleary, and June Carter Cash: The Woman, Her Music and Me by Charlene Boyd. She has worked with Mascarade Opera Studio, Glasgow International, Paisley Opera, Soundplay Projects, Wonder Fools Theatre Company, Brite Theater, Puppet Animation Scotland, and Festivals Edinburgh.
