Hello! And welcome to a special bonus episode of DEBUTS!
On today's episode Elizabeth, Brianna and I sit down and discuss JOE'S BED-STUY BARBERSHOP: WE CUT HEADS, directed by Spike Lee while attending NYU, with behind the scenes support from fellow classmates Ernest R. Dickerson and Ang Lee!
A FEW CONVERSATION CORRECTIONS:
- We somehow forgot to mention the fact that lead Monty Ross co-founded 40 Acres & a Mule with Spike and went on to produce the following Spike Lee joints: She's Gotta Have It, School Daze, Do The Right Thing, Mo' Better Blues, Malcolm X, Jungle Fever, Crooklyn, Clockers, and Inside Man.
- I'm not really sure why I thought Red Hook, I think I meant DUMBO.
- Zach IS Mr. Homer's name.
- When I said Crooklyn was a crime film, I meant Clockers.
- Robert Townsend was Meteor Man (and directed the film), Tommy Redmond Hicks was just a small role in it.
