As thousands of students return to Oakland and Squirrel Hill this week, we all re-enter a world governed by the "grading pen"—a relentless meritocracy that constantly measures our performance and leaves us feeling tired, unqualified, or quietly overlooked. But the scriptures refuse to let us stay stuck in this exhausting math. Drawing on Romans 12:1–8 and Psalm 138, this message explores the profound, liberating relief of interdependent grace. In the body of Christ, there are no spiritual report cards, no varsity or junior varsity members, and nothing that God deems "common." Discover how your unique, unpolished gifts are exactly what we need to co-create a resilient, courageous sanctuary of welcome for our neighbors.
