    • The Confirmed Diagnosis, Initial Treatment, and Plan
      Jul 10 2021

Autoimmune Encephalitis is a rare disease that has historically been very difficult to diagnose. It mostly affects young women and sometimes goes undiagnosed or misdiagnosed for years, often times being passed off as a psychological disorder or torrets syndrome. In Jillian's case, the doctors also had a hard time diagnosing her and it took about 6 months to get there. In this episode, host Jon Beerman is joined by Jillian Cash, Sarah Cash, and Jillian's grandfather Tom. They discuss the jounrey of getting to a fully confirmed diagnosis, her initial treatment plan, and the plan moving forward. Apr 23 2021

With the help of host Jon Beerman, Sarah Cash describes the very difficult process of getting an Autoimmune Encephalitis diagnosis for her 14-year old daughter, Jillian. The journey to get the diagnosis has been challenging to say the least and it is only the beginning. She was diagnosed in late March 2021 and is currently awaiting results of the spinal tap. For more info about this rare disease please go to https://autoimmune-encephalitis.org/

IMPORTANT NOTE: After the recording of this podcast, it was determined that Jillian was not officially diagnosed with AE as they needed to do more testing, but as of late June 2021 she was confirmed to have the disease. Episode 2 was recorded shortly after her official diagnosis and treatment.
