Sidney Wells was headed into his senior year of college with the world at his feet. He had dreams of becoming a journalist and maybe enlisting in the Navy. His life was cut short when he was murdered in the condo he shared with his brother Sam and their roommate, Thayne Smika. The investigation led to Thayne, but by the time they had enough evidence, he was in the wind. A Hollywood connection brought Sid’s case to the national media, but his case is still open. Episode 212: Linda Culbertson; the Murder of Donald Pierce

Linda Culbertson was a single mother of 3 who began a secretarial job working at the law office of Attorney Donald Pierce. While all who knew Don said he was a kind, hard working man who was madly in love with his wife, Linda perceived every interaction differently. In 1989 when Don was murdered at the office, few were in the building to say what happened. Investigators then uncovered a trail of jealousy, deceit, obsession and some — interesting — office supplies.

Episode 209: The Clearfield Rapist

Mark Douglas Burns is a convicted rapist and murderer who committed brutal assaults as the early 1970s, with his last confirmed in 2001. In the 2010s, through genetic genealogy, he was linked to 11 open cases spanning different states and many years. He was called the “Clearfield rapist” until investigators learned the real name of the man they were hunting for. He is currently serving a 242 year prison sentence.
