    The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman was first published in 1892 and depicts attitudes to women’s mental and physical health in the 19th century. It has become a classic work of psychological horror.

    The play follows two couples, Richard Rowan, a writer and his "common-law wife" Bertha, who have recently returned to Dublin, from years living in “exile” in Europe and Robert Hand, with his cousin and previous lover Beatrice (who was also Richard’s lover.)
    There are obvious parallels to be drawn with Joyce's own life – Joyce and Nora Barnacle lived, unmarried, in Trieste, during the years the fictional Rowans were living in Rome.
    This Papermoon production features a marvellous cast:
