A backdoor cold front is sneaking in from the northeast right now, sliding south through the Sandhills. and when I say backdoor, I mean it — this thing's coming from the wrong direction. and it's about to split Nebraska right down the middle. In the next 24 hours. If you're out west, you're on the warm side of that divide. Scottsbluff. North Platte, you're climbing to 63 degrees under brilliant sunshine. but that warmth comes with a warning — humidity crashes to 15 percent, winds gust to 25 miles an hour. and a Red Flag Warning is up through this afternoon. No outdoor burning. Period. Now push east across I-80. Grand Island. Lincoln. Omaha — you're behind that front. Highs hit 52 degrees with breezy conditions. Still a gorgeous February day, just a bit cooler. Down in the southeast near Beatrice? You split the difference at 57. Here's where it gets wild. Tonight, that front clears out, skies go crystal clear. and temperatures nosedive. Everyone drops to 21 degrees by Sunday morning. That's a 30 to 40 degrees crash in just a few hours. Your thermometer's going to get whiplash. Sunday flips the script. Light snow develops east of Highway 66 degrees. Southeast Nebraska could pick up an inch. Eastern areas see flurries. Highs only reach the mid-30s. Western Nebraska stays dry at 44 degrees. The week ahead stays active.
