In today's climate the term WOKE has been demonized. As a slur for people who are morally conscious. However Bishop and Jamie declare they would rather be the annoying WOKE friend, opposed to the person who doesn't stand for shit!
"Woke," originating in African American Vernacular English, generally means being aware of and actively attentive to issues of racial and social justice. It initially signified awareness of systemic injustices and racial prejudice. However, the term has become highly politicized, with some using it as a derogatory term for those perceived as politically left-leaning or overly concerned with social justice issues.
