Their shared philosophy, articulated by one of the girls, emphasizes the importance of kindness if someone wrongs you, let it go; if someone shows you kindness, find a way to repay it. Carolyn Verhoeff, a passionate advocate for animal welfare and former president of the Kentucky Animal Rescue League, inspired this story. Her legacy lives on, notably with the dedication of the Carolyn Verhoeff Animal Care Center at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1963.
