À propos de ce contenu audio
Two girls disappear in the same week.
Eight-year-old Savannah is taken from a crowded train just before the doors close. Seven-year-old Avery vanishes during a school trip to a winter fair. Their lives do not intersect; until they do.
North of Toronto, beyond the reach of highways and high-rise towers, an abandoned lakeside camp waits beneath winter sky. The lake beside it lies frozen and vast, its surface sealed in white. Beneath the ice, currents move unseen.
As investigators trace faint clues through the city’s glass corridors and hidden passageways, Savannah and Avery must navigate a silence as deep as the dark water that surrounds them. A small act of courage; a hidden locket; a fracture in the surface that widens slowly, then all at once.
Set against the stark beauty of Ontario’s winter landscape, What the Water Could Not Keep is a literary novel of suspense about girlhood, endurance, and the quiet strength that survives even the deepest dark. It is a story of what lies beneath; of what endures; and of what even vast water cannot erase.
