Vet Dream is a play based on true events brought to life in a play format. The identities of all real characters have been changed. The author has tried to keep the text as close to the original conversation at the time, but any opinions expressed in the play are not those of the author.
The play begins with the owner of a veterinary practice interviewing a newly qualified vet to fill a job vacancy. The format of the interview then becomes the rest of the play. This involves the vet and his interviewee role-playing real life events at the clinic, in order to train the new vet. The personalities of the owners of the pets are as much a part of the training as the medical condition of their pets.
