Unusual Premise

The author is creative in setting up what is essentially an RPG story. The plot puts the mind of a mid-20s guy into a newborn baby and has him grow up in the normal way. The major flaw in the story is that by the time his body is 13, the mind has almost 40 years of living, yet he is continually flummoxed and bullied by actual children, rather than demonstrating the wisdom, accumulated knowledge, and social skills of an almost-middle-aged man. Because the author fails to take advantage of the ingenious plot device he invented, the resulting story is rather boring.

If an ending could be rude this is it.

I love this book and really wish that the second one was out so I could continue the story. Don't let the tital and the very brief summary deter you The story focuses on a chemist Danny, after a long day at work, sliping on his step and meeting a tragic end on his front steps. Only to find out that he has woken up in an infint's body in a new reality and world that has magic, elves, dwarves, wizards, and all sorts of supernatural creatures. Men in this world are treated a lot different due to the fact that only 1 in 4 babies born of all species is male. This adds an interesting twist to the book that I enjoyed. There are people who have made comments about the character reacting to the taunts of other kids but I didn't really see that happen here. I mean if you haven't ever lost your temper with a kid before then you've never played online video games. Yes this book has some video game aspects to it but they are masked in a believable way. Finally we get to the much raged about topic that is the ending. As for me I agree this was a very VERY bad spot to end a book on. Sure there is the need to keep momentum going into the next book but this was in poor taste. The author should know that leaving us on such a clif hanger like this will make readers reluctent to continue in case the next book ends in a similar way. This is like a TV ending where the cheesey narrator says "tune in next week to find out" I could wait a week but it is going to take months if not more than a year to get the next book and that is asking a lot. Regardless of the ending I still think that this is a book worth picking up but maybe after the next book in the series has dropped.

Surprising!

I was having a hard time finding something to listen to when I came across this book, I remember thinking WTF was that book summary, Not sure why I got it. Big Surprise for me, It took me a little time to get into this book, It really took some time for it to grow on me, But by the end of the book I was mad as hell it was over so fast.

Can't wait to the next in the series.

I loved this Book and this Audiobook!

While it is rare, it happened here. Both the book *and* the audiobook were fantastic. Well read, well written, cool unique story. Nicely done Mr. Harper. Hoping for Book 2 (and 3) on Audiobook also!

loved the story, cant wait for more

author and narrator did a good job. i was enamoured until the end. the way the author ended the book was fine in my opinion. however, to some it may seem abrupt and out of nowhere.

A roller coaster and one that I want to get off of

This is a struggle to finish. I say that as I'm three quarters of the way through. The story starts off uninteresting and takes it's time getting up to speed. That's a surprise as the concept is excellent. A miserable loser is reincarnated and given a second chance to do it right but instead becomes a berated and sometimes bumbling wizard who is inducted into the military before he is eight. And to top it off, he is mostly berated for his inadequacies by other pre adolescents. A grown man, trapped in a child's body. Someone hit the reset button. Third life's the charm.

Fantastic start

This book started out fantastic however last third had me kind of go ahh. Before that part I had this as a solid 5 star book. I wish the author had spent more time about his life or even at the academy. I’m not a big fan of Harem which this book turned in to. I’m still looking forward to book 2.

My advice to the author slow down.

Great Listen.

I can't put into words how much I enjoyed this book. I'll just say in my entire library this is by far one of my favorite listens if not my favorite. I actually found myself laughing out loud at some points. Usually I can multitask while listening but this grabbed my entire attention.

As usual props to the narrator. I'm not sure what else to say about him that I haven't already; he literally never disappoints.

The ending was a bit lacking. That's my only complaint. I'm very much looking forward to the next book.

Warum?

great start into a monotone book<br />

I brought this book because the summary looked nice and the reader sounded pleasing to me and for the first chapter I was on bored with the hole think cliche reincarnation story with a pinch of litrpg an aktuall grown up protagonist not some angsty highschooler sign me up.

...yeah and then I get this an ex chemists who's seems in no way adult or like a person with even a bit of life experience but ok still could be a nice story but what's next all the "good kids" are somehow similar grow up in all exchanges sry but that's not how 7-9 olds behave but ok let's say it's a more medieval world so 10 year olds are already at a qaurter of they life .

but the end for me was when our mc somehow morph to a just another idiot 'harem' protagonist yeah I mean he is like 30/40 mentally so how should I even expect him to act like an adult and not just some 17 year old on an power trip

rly save you money an get one of the other 100 books like this one with a better setting
