Description
They are my harvest, and I will reap them all.
Returning to Guthrie, Oklahoma, for the funeral of his mysterious and beloved aunt, Sue, Adam Binder once again finds himself in the path of deadly magic when a dark druid begins to prey on members of Adam’s family. It all seems linked to the death of Adam’s father many years ago - a man who may have somehow survived as a warlock.
Watched by the police, separated from the man who may be the love of his life, compelled to seek the truth about his connection to the druid, Adam learns more about his family and its troubled history than he ever bargained for, and finally comes face-to-face with the warlock he has vowed to stop.
Meanwhile, beyond the Veil of the mortal world, Argent the Queen of Swords and Vic the Reaper undertake a dangerous journey to a secret meeting of the Council of Races...where the sea elves are calling for the destruction of humanity.

Waiting impatiently for book 3
Love this series! It was good to see how they each moved on from the events of book 1. I have mixed feelings about the love triangle as I want them all to be happy. Unfortunately the plot basically blew up in the last few minutes and now we wait for the third book.
Michael David Axtell did a great job narrating. He's got a wide range of voices and really brings the story to life.
NOTE: I don't know if there were any warnings in the beginning of the book, but I think there should be a head's up for the brief yet graphic depictions of child abuse throughout. It would be triggering to some.

Epic
This book killed me. The emotional tug of war was spectacular and I was so invested in the world and characters I cried

Oh dear..
This has gotten silly. I must have stumbled into Young Adult fiction by mistake. I enjoyed the first book in the series, in that there were at least things happening that kept me entertained and engrossed, even if it did feel pretty young adult-ish in its dialogue and overall level of gravity. This installment is far too heavy on internal dialogue: way too many thoughts and feelings going on, and they’re all a bit adolescent, even if they’re in the context of a situation that’s supposed to have consequences as dire as any that could exist.
For the first book, I could accept the narration, but on this one, the way all of the elves are voiced is just too much: it’s really just silly. But, the lines they are given are so predictable and type-cast that there’s only so much a narrator can do with them.
I’m about a third of the way through and find myself bored with the simplistic dialogue and irritated with the characters and premise. Shoot. This may have to go back as well..

Not as good as the first book
Trailer Park Trickster is a new adventure featuring the same cast of characters from White Trash Warlock. It takes place in Guthrie, Oklahoma and many of the dangling threads involving family from the first book are resolved.
I was looking forward to Trailer Park Trickster's release and I'm disappointed the continuing storyline has lost dimension. It's very scripted with contrived situations, emotional content that's not believable and pat resolutions. Too bad. The first book was great, with deep, realistic emotional content and believable dialog wrapped up in an intriguing urban fantasy mystery.
The second book's not terrible by any means, it's just a shallower story. The characters are not thinking for themselves to find the solution, whether it's mentally, physically or emotionally. That's what made them very real in the first book. The reader understood their motivations and could see their intelligence and unique personalities. Much of that well roundedness is missing in this story. And there's a lot of unrealistic situations where characters don't react normally as well.
Logic and real life accuracy takes a back seat in favor of where the story's plotted to go in Trailer Park Trickster, transitioning it into popcorn entertainment. Which is okay. Nothing wrong with popcorn. I was just hoping for more meat and potatoes.
Michael David Axtell does a good job on narration.

A Great Second Act!
With the same mix of edge of your seat energy and deep, provocative plotting that the first book in the series provided, Slayton explores some of the most complex parts of human behavior. Adam and the cast of characters around him have to grapple with an awful lot: the relationship between internal identity, external identity and self-worth, between what's legal and what's right, and the fact that someone can love and fear, love and hate, or even love and destroy at the same time. The novel explores the coping strategies that we learn at one point in our lives, which can hold us back at another stage of life in a fashion that's both loving and a little bit humorous. Oh, yeah: and all this is happening while magic is causing blackberry canes to grow up through the floor and rattlesnakes to attack!
The threads of deep awareness give depth to a tapestry of magic, wits, hex craft, and grinding poverty that definitely needs more stories told about it. The power and humanity of these stories is incredible. And so is the magic. As a side note, the reader rocked the performance! The voicing he gave to every character was spot on, The way he acted out the antagonist put shivers right down my spine!
A great listen, one that makes me excited for the next installment.

A work of art
The narrator is once again wonderful. His Spanish accent could use some work but we can forgive him that. The author once again shows a mastery of his world and his prose. What a wonderful tale. What a wonderful setting. Expertly told and amazing, the writer immerses us in his world. This man plays tricks on the reader leading them in one direction and then swerving unexpectedly. He shows compassion to his characters while putting them through the reader. this book is a work of art.

Nonstop supernatural intrigue.
So far I love this series. The narrator did an excellent job. Major cliffhanger at the end and now I can't wait for the next book.

Worthy second part
This is not a book I would recommend listening to if you haven't read/listen to the first past. The narration is as brilliant as in part one, the story as engaging and thrilling. Off we go uncovering dark family secrets until the end leaves us panting for part three!
