The Mistborn trilogy has become a firm favourite with fantasy fans the world over. The imagination that Sanderson brought to the series, his skill at marshalling epic storylines and dramatic action and his ability to create vivid characters made him a natural choice to complete Robert Jordan's epic Wheel of Time sequence. But with Mistborn, Sanderson has shown his bountiful talents in his own fiction.

For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Mistborn: Secret History is a companion story to the original Mistborn trilogy. As such, it contains huge spoilers for the books Mistborn (The Final Empire), The Well of Ascension and The Hero of Ages. It also contains very minor spoilers for the book The Bands of Mourning. Mistborn: Secret History builds upon the characterisation, events and worldbuilding of the original trilogy. Listening to it without that background will be a confusing process at best.

Histoire
All her life, Spensa has dreamed of becoming a pilot. Of proving she's a hero like her father. She made it to the sky, but the truths she learned about her father were crushing. The rumors of his cowardice are true - he deserted his flight during battle against the Krell. Worse, though, he turned against his team and attacked them.
Description
The impossible has happened. The Lord Ruler is dead. But so too is Kelsier, the man who masterminded the triumph. The awesome task of rebuilding the world has been left to his protege Vin - a onetime street urchin, now the most powerful Mistborn in the land. Worryingly for her, Vin has become the focus of a new religion, a development that leaves her intensely uneasy. More worryingly still, the mists have become unpredictable since the Lord Ruler died, and a strange vaprous entity is stalking Vin. As the siege of Luthadel intensifies, the ancient legend of the Well of Ascension offers the only glimmer of hope. But no-one knows where it is or what it can do....

I have no problem with the narration or the story. They are both great.
But there is an insufferable buzzing noise in some chapters ! I hope the recording gets fixed because it can be very annoying if you listen with headphones.

Slow Start...
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would (at least I'd recommend starting the series with the first book). Starts off rather slow and never quite reaches the heights of the first book of the series, but all in all a good continuation of the Mistborn saga. The final chapters of Well of Ascension point to an even more compelling storyline to come in the last book, but it stands well on its own too.
Who was your favorite character and why?
OreSeur - The growth of the relationship between Vin and OreSeur is quite interesting and provides much of the early to middle part of the book's interest.
Have you listened to any of Michael Kramer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
The previous novel in the series; both of them are very good performances.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. Unable to do so for the initial half (a little too slow), but the last half I read in one sitting.

I'm in two minds
the overall plot was great.
as always the narrator did a fantastic job.
however part of the recording in the middle has a strange feedback background noise. the narrator does make some obvious mistakes, like misnaming characters in a conversation between Lord Straff and Zane.
there is also what appears to be a continuity mistake where the author states that Clubs can burn bronze, when we know he is a smoker not a seeker... therefore only able to burn copper.
but as always the book ended in a way I didn't expect. and I respect that.

Unlike anything I’ve ever read before so unique
This book blew my mind by its character development from the first book to the second book. First let me start with the Magic system or otherwise known as ALLOMANCY it’s so unique than any other magic system books I’ve read before. And the world building it’s so rich with detail. Furthermore the characters are all incredible. Vin❤️ and Elands❤️ relationship and character development is so amazing I love them so much and Sazed❤️
The story is a masterpiece and the plot the twists and turns 😮 OMG MY MIND WAS BLOWN 🤯 . The first book was incredible and the second book was even more incredible and I haven’t read the third and final book from the trilogy but I have a feeling that I’m going to love it too so much that it’s going to be in my top favorite trilogy books out there. If not my number 1 trilogy book of all time. 😍❤️🥰

Narrator is of course superb again!
Great story. I really love these books so far. Now on to book 3.
I made a great mistake though. I wanted to see how names was spelled out, so I looked up Mistborn on Google and found the names of some characters. And there were info-boxes and info I shouldn't have read yet.
But it's okay. It's really awesome!

Not as good as the first, but amazing still.
Not as good as the first book, but only because the first was so amazing. Loved everything about it other than a romance triangle and teen angst subplot that I found tedious. My biggest complaint is in regard to Sanderson's books in general. He seems to regard religion as a positive thing and faith as some sort of virtue. He has a condescending view that some people need such delusions to function. It's rather frustrating to listen to someone indirectly preach about how dishonesty and self-delusion is good.

Pretty boring
I liked the first book in the series, but the second one is pretty boring. There's hardly any variance in the story and it's written pretty lazily like obvious traps, introducing characters that lack personality and just act as a tool for the plot.

Interesting, but drags on
First things first: the narration is amazing, stellar, 10/10. Real good reader.
The story and lore is strong on this one but the story drags on a lot. The characters are mostly static and just dealing with politics and arguments and psychological issues.
It all gets much better in the end, when the story finally unfolds. However the ending completely leads to the next book.
If this had been the first book in the series I would have abandoned it. But now that I'm here, it was interesting to hear.

Great story, wonderful narration
The second book of the Mistborn series has many more twists, turns and surprises than I had expected. What a marvelous story!
Michael Kramer's narration is stellar. He truly brings the story to life, with the wide spectrum of voices and accents he is able to use for all the different characters. Very much worth the listen!

Fairly boring story
Sanderson presents a fairly sophomoric understanding of relationships, yet relationships is the heart of the story. I wished the book was about adults facing adult problems. While I generally like stories about learning, growing up, etc, this book offers no insight nor demonstrates more than a passing understanding of life, the universe and everything.
There are some very creative monsters. But the story is uninspired.
