the sunflower project is a poetic memoir that tells of the author's genesis; growing from the seed of innocence and naivety, almost withering into nothingness with the loss of self-love and self-worth, then being revitalized by rediscovery and restoration. after surviving emotional abuse and sexual assault, the author finally takes steps back to herself by telling her story through poems, and ultimately unfolds new petals kissed by the sunshine of freedom, healing, and the reclaiming of her identity.
