À propos de ce contenu audio

An impulsive action, on his part? Hardly. Bron Hoddan went to the ship that landed on his native planet of Zan, the ship whose heartless crew was intent on lining up all his relatives for execution... and he stowed away.

Bron had planned it all long before, hoping to escape to the planet Walden, a place of wealth and peace where he might have a chance to prove himself as an electrical engineer, then find the beautiful wife of his dreams.

And compared with Zan, home of space pirates, Walden turns out to be a fine place indeed, where he quickly establishes himself with his brilliant work - until suddenly the police broke down his door!

Avis de l'équipe

In this sci-fi audiobook Bron Hoddan has escaped his corrupt home planet for the utopian planet of Walden - so civilized, in fact, that all its inhabitants have to worry about is a steady stream of tranquilizers to prevent boredom. As a skilled electrician, Bron hopes to build a life of honest achievement. But when one of his inventions unintentionally threatens to bring chaos to the idyllic-yet-passive society he must rethink his plan and face his piratical roots.

Victor Bevine performs this story with bravado, drawing listeners into the mysterious universe and highlighting its action and drama. Murray Leinser has made many additions to the sci-fi genre and this one specifically asks the question "What are the costs of Utopia?"
