    Description

A therapist must face her own worst fear - one of her patients is a serial killer.

Danielle Rycroft suspects someone close to her has a dark secret. In the confidential setting of therapy, her patients share their anxieties and fears. Now, with a string of murders in town putting her on edge, Danielle’s own worries come close to eclipsing her patients’. In each case, the pattern is the same: parents killed while their children sleep blissfully unaware in their beds. Her best friend, Detective Tami Sloan, is the only person she has confided in.

Danielle believes that there’s still a secret one patient has yet to share. But which one? Behind a familiar face is a stranger who’ll do anything to hide their worst compulsions. The anxiety brings Danielle to her own therapist’s office, seeking counsel and comfort. But what is she willing to risk, and how much closer must she get, to stop them?

Couldn’t get through the whole book

The narrator for this book sounded like an extremely amateurish audition reading. It is over done, and, in essence, pretty awful. The book itself I don’t know because I couldn’t get through the awfulness of the narrator.

    Narrator Sucks!

I had to stop listening to this one. The narrator was horrible, total overacting. She sounds like a 10 year old. The story also feels like it was written by a kid. It’s a bummer, the story looked interesting.

    Terrible narration.

I loved the story, and I usually like this narrator, but the breathy, yet whiny childlike voice she had for one of the characters was too much, and it ruined the audiobook for me.

    person reading book

I could not finish this book because of the person reading it. This was a great story but it was read as if it was a children's story.

Over the top narration, couldn't finish...

This might be a good book but I will never know because I can't get past the narrator. her voice is fine but she reads like she is reading to children, does terrible whiney voices for some characters, and she does odd voice inflections at inappropriate times making things sound much more dramatic than they need to be.

Almost quit due to exaggerated narrator, but glad I stuck it out

The narrator was so over exaggerated it reminded me of the children’s librarian reading at story hour, which ALMOST made me quit listening . I stuck it out though., and the story won me over enough that I decided to try to ignore the over-intoned and dramatic reading. Good psychological thriller. Ending makes it seem like the author is setting up for a series.

    HORRIBLE DID REPRESENTATION

Why is DID always portrayed so horribly and incorrectly. DID parts are very rarely violent. This book is as insulting as the movie SPLIT. Dialogue was also cheesy and the reading of the book made it even worse.

    Great

Loved it. Glad I found Steena Holmes. You’ll enjoy the twists and turns but want a sequel at the end.

    Great book!

This my second book by this author and it was really great as I expected! I really did not care for the narrator's voice however. It threw off the story a bit... took away a bit of the intensity of the story but its worth listening to the end.

    Wonderland mystery

This was a great mystery/thriller. Danielle's story is sad and complicated. You learn bits and pieces a long the way as her story unravels throughout the book. I felt confident I had everything figured out and then some wonderful twists were thrown in. The ending left hope that there could be a sequel to hopefully answer questions I had at the end!
