    Underwelming

    I wanted this to live up to the hype, but it did not.

    Perhaps this would be helpful for someone new to “self development”, but for me it read like a lot of stating the obvious. Most of the points made in this book are paraphrased themes of best selling self help books, and at worst a bunch of Pinterest quotes pushed together.

    The tone is dogmatic “you must do this” or “you cannot do that” with very little science or data to back up claims. Disappointing and overhyped, and I did not enjoy the narrator’s cheesy and sing songy performance.

    Moving!

    This book is truly moving, it shifted my mind in the right direction. It definitely help change my definition of happiness and what it truly means to go within and getting out of your own way.

    A book of self reflection I’ve been looking for

    This book has given me more perspective on my life than conversations I’ve had with an actual therapist. It made my mad cry and say ahha at the same time. If your looking for something to help you find the answers to questions you’ve been asking about yourself for a very long time, this is it. I hope it brings the next person what it brought me… clarity

    Above & Beyond most selfhelp books. In my Top 3.

    This one is a keeper; I plan to return to monthly. Narrator is good but quite soothing, which made me more likely to start dosing off when I wad quite tired in the evenings. Author hits home and is raw and takes a compassionate & reasonable understanding to the world & our predicament.

    Fell Short

    I quickly picked this book up after seeing almost everyone talking about it with high praises. It ended up being unexpectedly repetitive, and at many times felt more like a positive affirmations track than an actual book. The messages were nice, but offered much less science-backed examples than other similar books, and most of the 'tactics' given were very metaphorical; you'll 'know it's working' because you can 'feel your inner child' and stuff like that. When it comes to exercises, it's not much help to the emotionally congested to just tell us you're certain we'll see certain deep mental montages and just 'feel' when it's correct. Probably a good starter book, but didn't have enough substance for me.

    Very Transformative !!!

    This book helped me to see so much about myself. Brianna Wiest is brilliant and one of my favorite authors. Her material is straight to the point and provides great explanations!!
