A driven young grad student begins using her true crime podcast to help save her missing best friend, and she soon finds herself leading a small team of crime solvers to uncover local truths that are eluding the police.
Mercy is joined by her treasured mentor, cop-turned-criminology professor Mark Thoreau, by absurdly affable Post reporter Tohru Iwasaki, and by celebrity trans Youtuber Chizzy Williams in her search for the hard truths. It's amazing what a team of the right people can do, even under the worst of circumstances. Ultimately, however, the most brutal discoveries they have to deal with are the ones they're hiding from each other, especially the horrible truth that Mark is helplessly in love with his young protegee, something he barely dares admit to himself.
