Description

Meet Quentin Coldwater, king of the bizarre and wonderful land of Fillory. But he is getting restless, even in heaven a man needs a little adventure. So when a steward is murdered on a morning's hunt Quentin gets exactly that. But this quest is like no other. What starts as a glorified cruise to faraway lands soon becomes the stuff of nightmares....

The Magician King is a grand voyage into the dark, glittering heart of magic, an extraordinary journey that allows the imagination to run riot and proves Grossman is the modern heir to C.S. Lewis.

This is a book like no other.

Adults need to fight for Magic.

I relate to this book on a spiritual level. It helped me find peace with my broken dreams. I used to travel through S-E Asia riding a motorbike and meeting amazing people on the road, but once the money's gone, it's back home and back to work. I'll find my way back to Fillory.

Magic World Gone Realistic

A beautiful rendition of human emotion spectrum. The author knows his range and reaches further.

Loved it!

What made the experience of listening to The Magician King, Book 2 the most enjoyable?

It's such a good book. I loved it. Quentin makes some stupid decisions, and at times I really hate him and want to punch him in the face, but overall, I think it's fantastic

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Magician King, Book 2?

Elliott!! Any part with him.

What does Mark Bramhall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He's great. My friend made me watch the first episode of the TV show and I couldn't do it, All their voices were wrong. He just adds something special to the characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but it's too long. It took a few days, and I couldn't stop listening to it.

a disappointing mess

i found the first half of this book is mind numbingly boring, the second half picks up but ends on a downer.

Much better than Vol.1

i liked this book much better than the first one.
since it's not so much a known story with new detail. but more like a complete new universe born with illimited options and great character development. love it.

great book.
