He wanted the legendary glory of Evel Knievel. Instead, he got the wrath of Ruthless Ruth.
Growing up in the rural 1970s, young Tommy has a dream that is equal parts magnificent and terrifying: he is going to launch a bicycle over the family cattle pond and skyrocket into the daredevil history books.
There are just three massive problems. He doesn’t own a bicycle, he has no launch ramp, and his older brothers, Harold and Joe, are more interested in running a sidebar gambling operation on his spectacular failure than helping him succeed.
Determined to achieve his dream, Tommy commits the ultimate sin—he commandeers his older sister's prized bicycle. Seeing a golden opportunity for chaos, his brothers step in to "help" prepare for the big launch, secretly loosening the bike chain and deflating the tires to ensure maximum aerodynamic disaster.
What follows is a hilarious, fast-paced battle of wits, makeshift cattle-pond scuba gear, and a ticking clock. With their terrifying sister Ruth barreling down the dirt road toward home, Tommy must survive a spectacular mid-air crash, fish a ruined bicycle out of the murky muck, and find a way to escape a fate far worse than a broken pelvis.
The Legend of Ruthless Ruth is a sharp, nostalgic, and dryly comedic story about reckless childhood ambition, wicked brotherly rivalry, and the unexpected truths discovered at the end of a runaway ramp.
