A good sequel to the Paper Magician
What made the experience of listening to The Glass Magician the most enjoyable?
I enjoyed the lighthearted tale and characters in the Paper Magician so I went on to read the Glass Magician. It was just as entertaining as the first book and I found the narration to be a bit less hurried which made for more enjoyable listening. Nice escape from all the tragic headlines and news of the day. Reading this book is a nice respite from reality!

Very Good
Reading the first is necessary I think, to understand the characters and their motivation, but this second book I feel is better. The story jumps right onto the action, and keeps a rapid pace until the end.
The narrator does an amazing job creating the characters. Helping me grow found of the main females's annoying traits.
I really enjoyed this novel and am eager to start the next. On more than one occasion while listening I thought about how this story could be made into a movie.

Fun historical fantasy
Any additional comments?
Well into her apprenticeship with Emery Thane, 20-year-old Ceony Twill is still studying folding magic. She has, however, been harboring the secret that she can also wield other magics as well. Although she has told no one of her secret, two men from her and Emery’s past are convinced that she knows the secret behind wielding multiple magics. Vowed to stop at nothing to get the secret from her, Ceony knows she must discover the true limits to her powers before it’s too late. Will she succed? Will Emery figure out her secret?
Narrator, Amy McFadden does a great job of bringing to life Ceony's world. Her unique voices provide the listener with a unique, versatile narrative style. The plot is well developed, engaging, and keeps a fairly fast pace despite its historical setting. The characters are likable and humorous. The dynamics between them are enjoyable and McFadden easily navigates their dialogue. Readers who like to get to know the characters well will appreciate the mix of action adventure with the more serious matters of the heart. It does feel off for the time period, however, for Ceony to be so gung-ho about trying to solve her own problems without Emery’s help. Also, some of the battles with Grath and Sarag drag on a bit, but the humor and action mixed in make up for it. Recommended for those readers who like an action-packed, historical fantasy adventure.

NOPE
could have been interesting if they focused on anything other than the romance. Which is unhealthy AF. student loves much older teacher (who is apparently fine with it?), man can do nothing domestic for himself. young girl turns into basically a loveatruck maid.

Annoying Narrator, Cute Story
The melodramatic narration is truly annoying, and the terrible, fake British accent doesn't help. The story is fun, though the author makes some strange choices near the end that seem not only out of character for the two protagonists but also illogical. Still, it's a worthy sequel.

disappointed
I could barely finish this book. The main character is far more irresponsible, arrogant, and silly than she was in the first novel. The supporting characters indulge her ridiculous reckless behavior in such a dangerous way that her actions result in a death. Abd yet she walks away blameless, thinking she's more special and clever than when she began.

I didn’t enjoy the student and teacher romance drama, but otherwise it was an enjoyable listen.

Better then the first Book!
I loved this sequel to A Paper Magician... it was well paced with a good combination of interesting magical exploration, fun world building and action/suspense. While I liked the first book, the second half in Emery’s heart was too long and drawn out, it wearied me. This installment was better balanced. I especially liked the Emery POV chapter.
What I DIDNT like is Ceony’s rash actions going off on her own to try and defeat the Excisioners.. it made her seem super immature and was the first time I felt squeamish about the age difference between her and Emery. But Emery also should have kept her in the loop at least after the meetings and when he was leaving at the train station he should have told her he was going in with a team of magicians to hunt Suraj. Instead he made it seem like he was going alone.
Aside from those things which seemed out of character, and more like plot devices the author used to propel the story forward, it was a very strong installment and I really look forward to the third book!!

YA romance at best
The author sort of lost track of the story here and entered some sort of trance where she just plucks petals - he loves me/he loves me not. There are major plot holes and complete paragraphs of nonsense. It's almost like Harriet the Spy meets Twilight. The MC again charges off to defeat the antagonist because she is the only one who can apparently. It never feels like the MC is in any real danger. Also, the antagonist does some really unrealistically dumb things. Also, if the MC can track down the villlian so easily, why haven't the police? Conclusion, YA detective romance novel. There is no real story here, no progression, no delving into the mysteries of paper magic. At one point, it seemed like the author just got tired of it and decided to end it right there. Stop after reading the first book in this series and you're golden.

Are we in the 1800's or 1900's?
Amusing adventures, but some historical discrepancies? I fully expect her to pull out a cell phone!
I'm getting used to the Narrator's voice now. Some overdramatization - can be quite startling. Drop back on the volume in these parts.
Narrator- try a slight Sotto voice in those areas. Books do not need the full theatrical volume that theater does.
