    Description

Contains books 1-3 of The Forgotten.

    Forgotten, book 1

Sheriff Hayden Duke was born on the Pilgrim, and he expects to die on the Pilgrim, like his father, and his father before him. That's the way things are on a generation starship centuries from home. He's never questioned it. Never thought about it. And why bother? Access points to the ship's controls are sealed, the systems that guide her automated and out of reach. It isn't perfect, but he has all he needs to be content.

Until a malfunction forces his engineer wife to the edge of the habitable zone to inspect the damage. Until she contacts him, breathless and terrified, to tell him she found a body, and it doesn't belong to anyone on board. Until he arrives at the scene and discovers both his wife and the body are gone. The only clue? A bloody handprint beneath a hatch that hasn't opened in hundreds of years. Until now.

    Forsaken, book 2

Sheriff Hayden Duke expects to die any second. He's already been attacked by demonic aliens, rogue soldiers, and even the people he thought were his friends.

They took his wife. He has to find her. He has to survive. Another second. Another breath. He can never give up. He can never rest until she's back in his arms. They'll try to stop him, but it won't be as easy as they think. A new hope is rising in an old world.

    Unforgiven, book 3

Sheriff Hayden Duke has got a long way to go before he can rest. How can he when the entire world is under siege by demonic aliens and a brutal thug who calls himself King?

It's an unknown and powerful threat that may be responsible for the end of humankind. The road may be long. The odds may be bad. The stakes may be high. But you can’t keep a good Sheriff down.

    What the FEZ...?

I wrote a much longer review but amazon would not publish it because I wrote, "What did the author use FEZ instead of the F-word?"

Well, apparently you can't spell out the F word in a review. Anyway, I just could not finish this series due to the terrible story. It just kept making less and less sense.

    ----from my initial review----

One of the characters appears to have schizophrenia - one minute yelling the next minute calm. You'll see who I'm talking about as you read. But the dialog with this schizophrenic character will throw you off because no one except a wimp would react meekly to what this schizophrenic character says.

There was a spot at the beginning where I THINK the main character was ok with someone else having sex with his wife. I can't tell if that happened, but she got a visit from the schizophrenic character and he gave her something of value for no real apparent reason. It left me with an uncomfortable feeling..

Another female character sounds like Alan Rickman doing Hans Gruber doing William Clay (in Die Hard). Very distracting.

The scenario where the main character is "on the run" seems very unlikely for a tight-knit spaceship.

    Protagonist is a moron.

Plain and simple main character is an idiot. You think he'd pick up a thing or two from his wife since she's so intelligent, didn't help that the narrator makes him sound pathetic. Was very hard for me to finish the first book I'll try to get through the others. The MC just isn't that likeable imo.

    The Forgotten Trilogy

This is almost like like Event Horizon meets Alien. And that’s just book one. Where the ship ends up is a sort of post apocalyptic nightmare....This book kept me guessing until the final page. Highly, highly recommended if you enjoy Sci-Fi Horror. This is worth every minute.
I’d read these on Kindle and Jonathan Davis brings Sheriff Duke to life. Hell, he brings the whole thing to life. Think, Kenobi, Maul, Shadow of the Wind. Books where be truly shines. He does that here. Every character unique, I could go on, but I won’t.

    Not what I was expecting

Had good expectations about this storyline but the twist kinda killed it for me. Just not what I was wanting at the time.
As far as the author and narrator, it was good and I have no complaints.

Story and narration hooks you in quick!

The headline sums it up. And this story begins an entire universe of stories. Highly recommend!

    Great Trilogy!

This trilogy ticks every box on my list. Written beautifully; characters written well; narration is superb. Although....one tiny pet peeve regarding Jonathan Davis's narration--I would love his female characters to sound as intelligent as they're written.
The story is compelling and moves at a satisfying rate. And, during this volatile political time, I very much enjoyed living vicariously through Sheriff Duke trying to rid the Earth of the sadistic, self-absorbed, sociopathic King.

    AWESOME!!!!

This is an excellent series that had me captivated through my many hours/days of commuting. It's a great story with plenty of background info on the important characters. Moving on to the rest of the series.

Gets worse as it goes on . . .

This is is a publishers pack, which I love, because you get all three books, (30 hours), for one credit - that’s the good news. The bad news is that each successive book is worse that the one before it.

I listened to all 30 hours, because I was interested in the characters and how it would all end. The author built good characters, which is always important to me, and that was clearly the best part of the books; but he had an unbelievable plot that just kept getting more and more unbelievable. I have no idea how many times I uttered out loud “Oh, come on now!” Yes, it's fiction, but it has to be believable, and the characters have to act and react in believable ways. Unfortunately that didn't happen here.

I also quickly burned out on the narrator. I love a narrator who demonstrates emotion and inflection in his or her reading, but Mr. Davis really over-did that. It seemed like every other sentence was read with so much drama and inflection, that you would think it was the climax of the book. After a while, it looses its effect, and gets annoying.

I really wanted to like these books. The topic was right in my sweet spot, and there are more books in this universe which I looked forward to listening to next. But no, I forced myself thru this publishers pack to see what happened, but I was so relieved to be done, that I won't try anymore of the Forgotten Universe.

Great series! Forbes is masterful at least with my emotions. I even welled up with tears! Jonathan Davis is a perfect voice after for this series. Thanks for the great entertainment and looking forward to the next book.

    good bundle

pretty good book just enough realism with world ending fantasy. sheriff Duke is a overly optimistic protagonist but he does not waiver. I like the RC Bray performances but this reader was good enough. worth buying the bundle good ear candy
