The Distance Between is an autobiographical poetry collection that chronicles the life of a man shaped by hardship, faith, failure, redemption, and enduring love. Told in traditional rhymed verse, the poems trace a journey from childhood in the hills of Tennessee through seasons of loss, depression, broken marriages, spiritual awakening, ministry, fatherhood, forgiveness, and gratitude in middle age.
Through deeply personal reflections, the author confronts darkness without glorifying it, wrestles with spiritual battles, learns humility through suffering, and ultimately finds peace in surrender to God. Along the way, he honors the people who shaped him—family, mentors, church community, and the son who became his greatest blessing.
At its heart, The Distance Between is a testament to transformation: the distance between boyhood and manhood, despair and hope, pride and humility, fear and faith. It is a story of perseverance, forgiveness, and the steady grace that carries a life from beginning to end.
