Wild Bill Hickok rides into Silver Vein on a hot and steamy summer day. He's antsy and overdue for a vacation, but this is Silver Vein, and all sorts of mayhem is afoot.
Curly Barnes is in his saloon, serving out drinks and jabbering to anyone who would listen, when he learns the last of a long line of sheriff Langtry’s is being held prisoner in his own jail.
