À propos de ce contenu audio

The battle over interpretations of Genesis is not one we are called to win at all costs. The damage that it is causing to the church is far greater than any benefit gained by winning people to one particular interpretation. We should abandon the fight over whether the Bible teaches young earth versus old earth or miracle versus natural processes. The Bible is ambivalent on these topics, and we should be, as well.

The goal of this audiobook is not to convince you of the Bible's support of the age of the earth or extent of the flood or whether or not Adam was historical. One can cherry-pick verses and find support in the Bible and elsewhere for many things, regardless of their validity.

The issue is that when understood the way the ancients did, it addresses their world view and questions using their cosmology - not ours. Our fight over how the Bible answers our questions causes us to totally miss the message that addresses more important questions. It is also causing people - believers and nonbelievers, alike - to reject the church and the more important message that it is called to deliver. Only by abandoning this battle do we all win.
