Description

This audibook is read by the author, with a forward read by Joe Navarro. Robin Dreeke is a 28-year veteran of federal service, including the United States Naval Academy and the United States Marine Corps. He served most recently as a senior agent in the FBI, with 20 years of experience. He was, until recently, the head of the Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program, where his primary mission was to thwart the efforts of foreign spies and to recruit American spies. His core approach in this mission was to inspire reasonable, well-founded trust among people who could provide valuable information.

The Code of Trust is based on the system Dreeke devised, tested, and implemented during years of fieldwork at the highest levels of national security. Applying his system first to himself, he rose up through federal law enforcement and then taught his system to law enforcement and military officials throughout the country, and later to private-sector clients. The Code of Trust has since elevated executives to leadership and changed the culture of entire companies, making them happier and more productive as morale soared.

Inspiring trust is not a trick, nor is it an arcane art. It's an important, character-building endeavor that requires only a sincere desire to be helpful and sensitive and the ambition to be more successful at work and at home. The Code of Trust is based on five simple principles:

1. Suspend Your Ego
2. Be Nonjudgmental
3. Honor Reason
4. Validate Others
5. Be Generous

To be successful with this system, a listener needs only the willingness to spend eight to 10 hours learning a method of trust-building that took Robin Dreeke almost a lifetime to create.

Needs a PDF

The book has very valuable advice and good stories to go along with it. My problem is when he tries to describe the graphics in the book verbally or he runs through the checklists that help you to identify your personality type so that you can adjust your style and approach when working with one of the four personality types he describes. This becomes almost impossible to follow without the graphics. Imagine listening in the car or on a treadmill and trying to rewind a forward so you can picture what the heck is going on. No way. Audible should set some standards that require a PDF download is available if figures in a book are essential to understanding the content. I could have bought the paper version at a lower price.

Amazing Stuff!

This book is full of great ideas.

The author is extremely authentic and humble.

It is also amazing in the sense of seeing the world through the eyes of a successful FBI agent.

A book that will change your life, if you want to!

Would you listen to The Code of Trust again? Why?

I am actually looking forward to listening again. Learning the Code of Trust and hearing the lessons again will only re-enforce my grasp on the Code.

What other book might you compare The Code of Trust to and why?

Honestly, I have never read anything like it

Have you listened to any of Robin Dreeke’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have had the pleasure of seeing Robin present a class in person. He is a very good presenter.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES

Any additional comments?

I only hope my wife and my kids listen to this book. I know what I have learned will help them too!

Powerful lesson

It's a treat when the author narrates their own book; the lesson takes on greater depth and understanding. I didn't want the book to end.
Great tools for our modern society. Narration, cadence, and format deserves a BRAVO ZULU!

Great book.

Very interesting content. This should be recommended reading for all leaders, managers, and businesses practitioners.

Leadership is a social contract and the system only works if trust is both given and received. This book tells you how to build it. Intelligent Disobedience by Ira Chaleff tells you how to maintain it from a subordinate's perspective and Patrick Lencioni's Five Dysfunctions of a Team tells you how to maintain it from the boardroom.

The performance was good but there are some noticeable hiccups. I would also like to see some companion documents for a few key pages.

The author is brilliant and you will enjoy the audiobook.

Excellent advice with practical implementation

Well done, allows the listener to be self reflective for practical course correction. Provides a system to build better trust and relationships through understanding others and yourself better.

Excellent material that is presented with emphasis

Soft skills discussed in Code of Trust are the secret sauce of effective communication which determines mission outcomes that most people don't know. This is one of those books that people who are working with others should reread annually if not quarterly. Should be on the top of the list for any executive reading.

it really is a solid book!

i bought this book to enjoy on an international flight, since i take them often but never can sleep... robin’s narration and no-nonsense code were both very well done - it really is a solid book! since then, i’ve listened to scores of other authors, but i keep coming back to this book. its an exceptional value and i will look forward to future books, should robin choose to publish them. thanks for a great book!

Good Content Poorly Read

This book would likely have been more enjoyable if I had read it more instead of listened to it. The author stuttered and mispronounced so many words it made me worry that he has suffered a TBI. I mean that seriously, and not as some callous attempt at humor. He seems to read at the level of a middle schooler who is seeing the material for the first time. The content isn’t anything revolutionary, but still worthwhile. As mentioned, I would recommend this as a book but it may be hard for some to get through with the stilted narration of the audiobook.

beeindruckend

Story is great, reading can be improved

Not always is the author as good a reader as a writer. I get distracted easily by swallowed words, confusing intonation and sometimes blurry pronounciation. He has got potential, but I mean no offense in saying it doesn't work for me.
