Have you ever attempted to justify the impractical in real time? It's a pitiful, desperate process.
Immediately, my thoughts searched for a rational way out.
In the monitoring apparatus, there was a digital bounce. A creaking sound in the concrete base. It's merely an acoustic trick.
But I was familiar with this space's physics. The purpose of Chamber 4 was to brutally kill sound. Furthermore, the scratchy sound had entered my headphones through the hefty plastic cups and registered as a raw, physical pressure wave rather than coming through the electronic input. It had started directly under my boots.
Don't light your room. Put yourself in that chair if you can. It feels like thick black velvet pressing on your eyes as you are suspended thirty feet above the ground on a braided metal web, enveloped in an unfathomable void. Your own fingers waving in front of your face are invisible to you.
