    Description

A haven for humanity. Factions forming and fracturing. The seeds of a new empire.

Drew and his team are racing to create a system-recognized "Habitat". To make this happen, they must conquer more nodes, deal with an antagonistic superior officer, and possibly worst of all: Their own fear.

Freeing the troll’s sacrificial captives was only the beginning. Now the remnants of humanity must find a safe place to call home. But Nat's Park isn't the safe haven he was promised it would be. Not only do internal politics threaten to rip the survivors apart, an unknown danger haunts the stadium.

Drew and his allies will struggle to survive in the changed world after the Advent as fate works to temper them.

    Not enough story

So I hate to write a negative review on a story that I do enjoy. I will say that the plot continues and grows in the right ways. There are some new interesting characters that come on board. A New God appears but not much behind it.

Luke Daniels was amazing as always.

Now the problem I have with this book is that nothing really happens for half the book. Sure they fight bad guys etc but there just wasn’t enough substance. I skipped chapters because I was losing interest in the story and felt like I didn’t miss anything. This book needed more story and outside earth storyline. It was set up in the first book but then nothing in this one. I hope the next book has more. I do enjoy the story but really the first half of them book should have been 3 chapters at most. It’s okay to fast forward in time. We spent the next month doing blah etc. I hated Snyder even more over blah month etc. If the story doesn’t continue in some substantial way in the next book I won’t be continuing the series.

Either stop listening to your editor who’s telling you to publish this shit and write I great story. Or if it’s the other situation start listening to them.

    -A concerned fan

A Side Questing we shall go

That is just about this whole book, a big ole side quest for nodes and being carried by one of Aries troopers. Oh and this ridiculous CW romance thing that is going on from the very needed and dependent Cati, I get that the author has a hard on to have military acronyms every place in the book and to try and make this rank and file. But he was going for that, then Cati needs to removed from the party because she is a huge distraction. Hence why that is NOT aloud in the military, at least not in the same unit.

    A frustration with narration

Book is pretty solid, but narrator keeps saying cran instead of crayon and I feel like I am gonna have a brain aneurysm.

    A great continuation.

This is a great sequel. They keep up the excitement of the first and add more factors to the groups survival and the world at large. They also do a great job developing the characters into what feel like real people. Overall a great continuation that leaves me excited for the next book!!

    Solid storytelling

Second book in the Red Mage series and it doesn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed listening to it. It’s one of those books that you’ll sit in the car listening an extra 20 minutes to an hour in your driveway. Lol.

    Dang it!

I understand that this book is just over 12 hours, but at the end of this book I was like where is the rest! I’m in a holding pattern waiting for the next book! I love this story and series from Xander! And it was date for Luke Daniels to be the narrator!

A Fantastic addition to one of my favorite litrpgs

Holy crap this is a great book!
If you enjoy litrpg or apocalypse series this book will be right up your ally.
The world building continues to be good, the character growth is there though i will admit slow, the continued enjoyment of old characters following along as well as fantastic new ones is good. and new threats for them to face and overcome is nice as well.

I personally am deeply interest in how Drew and his group continue to grow as well as if Drew becomes fully realized. i don't wanna say what i mean by that so not to spoil anything though i am sure those of you who read the first book in the series will know what i mean.

    NEED MORE

Loved it. Great from start to finish. It keeps you entertained and continues to advance the plot foward while explaining the little details along the way. completely enjoyed this book and series so far... yes it has game mechanics and yes there are monsters but they also try to keep some realism with the environment and human relationships and emotions aspects. This is just a great read if you like sci-fi game rpg.

One of the better books in the genre

This book has a well explained system that is simple in it's rules but complex in skills. It follows the plot and hints at a wider plot to come.

    Solid second book!

Wasn't sure how the author was going to tie together the two concepts of fantasy like powers with the space element of the previous book.

However I was pleasantly surprised with the balance the author was able to achieve between these two vastly different concepts, both in idea and power level.

Also it's nice to see that the second book hasn't degraded the quality of the writing as in so many other lit RPG series.

    Weak

Season 2 of mr. Invincible against a rather badly staged world of flat characters.
I liked the ideas of the slot system with the crystals, which you had to develop and improve, but it is all just a jumble of skills and no real craftsmanship in describing the scenes (crating drama, tension, plot development, etc)
Nah, that’s it for me with this book of the series.
