The swinging lifestyle, often referred to simply as "the lifestyle" by its participants, represents one of the most significant challenges to traditional moral frameworks in contemporary America and other parts of the world. It is a subculture that operates on principles that directly contradict the foundational beliefs of monogamous society: that love and sex can be separated, that commitment doesn't require exclusivity, and that marriage can be strengthened rather than weakened by sexual encounters with others.
