Description
An unknown enemy waits for war.
From the bottom of the oceans of the world a hidden threat stalks mankind—probing, testing our weapons and defenses, biding time to strike. In the summer of 2039, this aquatic foe unleashes surprise attacks against coastal cities around the globe. Mankind faces a sophisticated new enemy, arrived from the depths of space and lurking in the dark blackness of the seas.
The United States and the rest of the world are ill prepared for such an attack.
Humanity’s only hope are ASHURs, powerful armored combat suits named after the Assyrian god of war. The fight for survival will require ingenuity, cunning, and a furious application of destructive violence against the most unrelenting enemy mankind has ever known!
Tom Clancy and the Expanse meets Mecha-charged combat in this thrilling series that pits humanity, world governments, and deadly alien invaders against each other.
The fight for tomorrow begins with the initial splashdown....

New IP firmly established.
A very solid way to kick off an IP. interesting to see Battle LA mixed with District 9 and other ideas. certainly no rip off but I feel the inspiration. wargate always has great voice actors. highly recommend.

Interesting military scifi
Fun story. Decent characters. I am looking forward to the release of the next novel in the series.
The first 20-30% of the novel is slow going, however once is picks up it takes off to the moon. Or rather the deepest and darkest part of the oceans.
Give this a read if you enjoy military or near future scifi novels.

Mechs and Aquatic Aliens that somehow feel REAL!
I don't know how Blaine Pardoe managed to pull this off beyond having a superb imagination and undertaking an incredible amount of research. It's a given that he's going to right mechs really well given his imprint on BattleTech. But everything else... wow!
This is that rare science fiction book that feels plausible. If aliens invaded the way they do in this book and if military technology is rightly where Blaine sets it in the near future, then this feels EXACTLY like how it would all happen. The realism is heightened by the different perspectives throughout the book. Tom Clancy meets the Expanse is a very accurate description.
I'll be spending a credit on book two once it's released.

Set condition 1 throughout the ship
This is the single most thrilling listen I've had in years. Blaine has done an amazing job bringing near future world into our lives. Will and have recommended it.

That’s how you build a story arc
I was pleasantly surprised. The author explained both enemy and heroes with giving up the plot or series arc. I will get the next one

Fantastic beginning to a trilogy.
The first 80% is character development and world building, making the ending incredible. Ends on a great note for the next books. Looking forward to getting into them.

Excellent Ending.
I loved this book once I got through to the end. Yes 80 percent of this book was character and story development. It pays off in a big way and well worth it.
I have to say. While the narrator is no RC Bray. I thoroughly enjoy the life he brought to this story.

Delusional Grandure
The author decided 3 books of short stories about 20 side characters and world building would be popular.
0 action. 100% just reading character biographies leads to no investment in storyline. Ever read a textbook? Listening to this is like that. I kept skipping chapters to find out when the Sci fi action arrives. Sadly no. Nothing ever happens. This isn't military Sci fi.
Auther decided, I'm going to make a huge world, and got lost along the way.

Too slow
This book was too slow and often times hard to follow and really did not grab my attention to it was almost done and even so just didn’t have that extra power that I’ve seen and other science fiction novels
