Donny Thompson thought it would be a short detour off the freeway, but the Mothman had other plans for him. Surprised by the Mothman on a steep mountain pass, Donny crashes his van to avoid killing the monster. The local sheriff suspects Donny isn’t telling the truth about the accident or Donny’s reasons for being in his odd little town. While avoiding arrest for a string of murders, Donny meets a fellow cryptid hunter with an interesting theory on the Mothman.
