    Description

Andi Dorfman, breakout star of ABC's The Bachelorette and New York Times best-selling author of It's Not Okay, returns with this new collection of her adventures as a still-single gal surviving and thriving in New York City.

Sharing moments like finding her first New York apartment (the front door broke so she had to use the fire escape), her first dates on "celebrity Tinder" and finally, watching her ex-fiancé propose to another woman on Bachelor in Paradise, Andi Dorfman doesn't shy away from pulling back the curtain on the life of a reality star who's returned to reality.

Dorfman's supremely relatable personality has inspired incredible devotion from her fans, who follow her every move on social media. Filled with a mix of romantic mishaps, city adventures, and, of course, plenty of insider Bachelor details, Andi's new book is Sex and the City for the reality TV generation.

    Shallow

Don’t waste your money. Borrow from a friend or the library. Shallow, disappointing and very annoying with the author as narrator. Sorry! I liked the first book.

    Entitled Whining disguised as SATC

Andi Dorfman loses all the kinship her readers felt in her first book. Complaining about #firstworldproblem scenarios most NYC transplants can’t even BEGIN to afford as if she’s some Everywoman and clearly just trying to turn herself into Carrie Bradshaw. She’s clearly a privileged princess who coasts by without anything relatable for her r

    You're a former Bachelorette, not a celebrity

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I gave this story 3 stars because some of the stories are interesting and it's an easy read. But I was so bothered by her attitude. She clearly thinks she is the coolest thing since sliced bread and it's a little ridiculous. She made herself sound very bratty, she compares it to Sex and the City and I think those girls were more humble than she makes herself sound.

    A waste of time

I liked Andi on the bachelor and really enjoyed her first book (mostly for bachelor gossip). Her second book was just a story of her super privileged life in NYC while she complains about everything. Her dating stories are sad tales of her insanely high standards, where she writes guys off for saying “how r u” instead of “how are you”. This book was a huge waste of my time and I lost brain cells reading it.

    Pass on this one

Seemingly a self serving account of a desperate late blooming female’s foray into living away from home for the first time (she goes about things as if) and all the college level C Movie related adventures that are pathetic at best...wish I could get my credit returned from Audible ;(

More enjoyable than her first book

What did you like best about Single State of Mind? What did you like least?

Compared to Andi's first book (about overcoming heart break), I found her second book to be much more enjoyable. Finding / redefining yourself is something every person has done at some point in their lives, and Andi's fun and honest account allows readers / listeners to laugh and cry along with her ups and downs around moving to a new city for a new start. I thought her storytelling was much better in this book, and it had a nice flow.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I'm still deciding what my next listen will be, but I will say that I didn't read / listen to Andi's novels because I love Bachelor fan fiction. I actually just really like her and her style of storytelling. I'm sure, though, that fans of Bachelor Lit will eat it up.

What does Andi Dorfman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love Andi's raspy voice. I loved it when she was on TV, in her first book, and now again. It's raw and honest, just like her writing.

Do you think Single State of Mind needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I don't think there needs to be a follow-up book, but I wouldn't mind seeing Andi write about some other topics now that she's covered heart break and dating.

    Loved it!

As a woman in my late 20's, this is such a relatable book! I definitely recommend because often times we feel that our lives are a wreck, only to find out that it's women everywhere. Having her read her own book made it that much more relatable. As if one of my girlfriends was telling me her life story.

A Fun Read, Especially if you LOVE NYC

I really enjoyed Andi’s first book, and this second book is even better. I loved how much she talked about life in NYC — I have visited the city a few times, but I feel like I really understand what it’s like to live there after listening to her book. She is one of the best narrators I’ve heard — there’s life and expression in her voice, like you’re listening to your best friend filling you in on her latest adventures. I also enjoyed her stories about her friends, and her thoughts on being a single woman. Some of the stories about her exploits were a little boring, but I really enjoyed the majority of the book. Is Andi privileged and somewhat out of touch with what life is like for the average single American woman? Absolutely. But how else would her book be entertaining? I like reading about her life because it’s so much different than mine. An escape from reality indeed. Thanks Andi for letting your readers live vicariously through you! And again, the NYC backdrop is a huge plus. I can’t wait for Andi’s next book — wondering what made her decide to move from NYC to LA (another city I love).
