Winnifred Winters has agoraphobia. Winnifred Winters hasn’t left the house, not for two years, not since her mama passed.
So when she wakes up in the backseat of a taxicab in a town she’s never been to, she’s extremely alarmed. Panicked, even. As if she needs anything more to add to her anxiety, she's been losing time lately—something made all the more frightening because dead girls have been showing up on the side of the road every other week.
Winnie—her alternate personality—takes over when Winnifred has a hard time coping with things. Dead girls too close to home have allowed Winnie to take control more often. She would never say that she is thankful that girls are being murdered, but it has afforded her more time of her own. Time to meet Thorn Pearson, the director of Pearson’s Home for Funerals.
While Winnie becomes entangled with Thorn, Winnifred spends her time obsessing over the identity of the River Town Reaper.
